Virtual Server Extensions

As a Virtual Server Administrator, you have access to a large array of programs that extend the capability and functionality of your server. These programs are are called "extensions" and though some were developed by third parties, each are supported by the Iserver Support Managers. Each of the extensions is accompanied by a large amount of documentation which should be reviewed and understood. Some of the extensions have license agreements that you should make yourself familiar with and agree to. Furthermore, mSQL and Netscape Compatible Encryption require a small licence fee.

Autoresponders

An autoresponder returns the contents of a file as the response to a mail message sent to an address on your server. For example, you may want to set up an autoresponder to answer all "info@yourdomain.com" requests by responding with a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) document.

      iManager
iManager is a web content manager and file browser, iManager, specifically for use with its Virtual Server System. The iManager utility provides a familiar form interface (which you access with your favorite browser) for such tasks as uploading files from your computer to your server, copying files, deleting files, renaming files, editing files and much more.

      iRoot
iroot content manager and file browser, iManager, is supplemented by an Iserver authored plugin, iRoot. The iRoot plugin allows you to remotely administrate your virtual server by providing easy form based wizards. The iRoot wizards walk you through the process of setting up POP accounts, removing POP accounts, adding and deleting Email aliases, changing passwords, and many others.

Microsoft FrontPage

Microsoft FrontPage delivers great web publishing power for nonporgrammers, is very easy to use, and offers advanced web publishing features all tightly integrated with Microsoft Office.

Mime Types

The Virtual Web Service includes and entire web server with a complete set of configuration files (httpd.conf, mime.types, et al). Your server's "mime.types" file can easily be edited to allow your Virtual Web Service to serve content such as Macromedia's Shockwave, etc.

mSQL

Mini SQL is a light weight relational database engine that supports a subset of the ANSI SQL specification. It has been designed to perform the operations that it supports quickly and with very little resource overhead.

Netscape Compatible Encryption

You have the option to add Netscape Compatible Encryption to your Virtual Server. With Netscape compatible encryption, your customers will feel confident sending you their credit card information online because they know it will be a secure transaction.

Virtual Sub-Hosting

The Virtual Server System can now be configured to house multiple Virtual Hosts. This allows you to subdivide your Virtual Server into multiple partitions, each of which responds to its own individual domain name.

Software License Fees

You will notice that some of the Virtual Server extensions require a small setup fee (mSQL and Netscape Compatible Encryption) and in one case- a minimal monthly fee (Netscape Compatible Encryption) is required. These charges are issued solely to cover the license fees associated with the software. Many other Virtual Server vendors do not charge their customers for these services- the vendor either expects the client to pay the license fee individually or the vendor provides support for the software illegally.

At Iserver, we recognize the harmful effects of software piracy and illegitimate use, and therefore attempt negotiate and purchase a site license to use the software when possible. If a site license cannot be secured, we will attempt to make other arrangements with the author of the software. Thus you will save a great deal of money since we secure licenses, contracts, and partners as a corporation representing thousands of business and individuals (you).

is an authorized RSA Partner For example, Iserver has negotiated with the author of mSQL, David Hughes, for site wide use of mSQL. If you were to purchase a single individual use license for your personal or company's use of mSQL, you would be obligated to pay a $170 license fee. The site license fee Iserver has secured is $50 per server, a $120 savings for you.

Iserver is also an authorized RSA Partner. Our arrangement with RSA is that we pay them $20/month for each server that uses its encryption technologies. This is a fee we pass on to our clients directly (i.e. we don't mark it up).
